Fine Disregard

The producer
Fine Disregard is the personal project of Mike Schieffer and Kara Maraden, two people who spend their days deep in other people's vineyards and cellars. Mike is the assistant winemaker at Turley in St. Helena, with stints in Saint-Emilion and Australia's Hunter Valley behind him. Kara is the director of viticulture for Foley Family Farms, a Penn State trained plant pathologist who has farmed vineyards across California since 2010. Together, since 2015, they seek out old vines in interesting soils, preferably organically farmed, in the corners of California that fashion forgot, including Mataro off the deep sands of Contra Costa County. The name reads like the philosophy: pay the trends no mind, follow the old vines.
