The producer
Domaine de la Lande is a family estate in Bourgueil, the humble and nearly forgotten corner of the Loire, now run by François Delaunay. The farming came first here. The estate has worked organically for more than two decades and has been certified since 2013. The vines split into two personalities on the same tuffeau limestone bedrock: six hectares of Bourgueil planted between 1965 and 2010 on shallow siliceous clay, and two hectares of Prestige parcels planted between 1930 and 1964 on deeper calcareous clay, all facing south. The cellar keeps to a steady rhythm. Fully destemmed fruit, two to three weeks of fermentation and maceration with a single punch-down and a daily pump-over, then eighteen months in old 5,000 liter foudre and steel, lightly filtered and never fined.
